Privacy notice
Who we are
My Certs, 2 St John St, London, EC1V 4LZ, is responsible for your personal information. Contact us about anything in this notice at support@mycerts.co.
What we collect
- Your order: the property address, the owner's name, your email address, your phone number if you give it, what certificates you need, why and when.
- Payment: Stripe handles your card details. We see only the payment status, the last 4 digits and the card brand.
- The records we find: copies of certificates for your property, and our findings report.
- Site use: one essential cookie (
mc_vid) that keeps the order form secure and lets us count visits to each step. We keep a scrambled form of your IP address to stop abuse. We don't use advertising or third-party analytics.
How we use it, and why we're allowed to
- To provide the service you ordered (contract): searching registers, ordering copies, emailing you updates and handling refunds.
- To keep records we must keep (legal obligation): payment and tax records.
- To run and protect the service (legitimate interests): stopping fraud and abuse, and understanding which emails and steps lead to orders.
Who we share it with
- The certificate registers and councils we search for you (for example FENSA, CERTASS, Gas Safe Register, NICEIC, NAPIT, ELECSA, MCS and your council), which need the property address and sometimes the owner's name.
- Stripe, which processes card payments.
- The companies that host our website and email.
We never sell your information or share it for marketing.
How long we keep it
- Checkouts that are never paid: deleted after 30 days.
- Documents on your order page: deleted after 90 days.
- Paid orders: kept for 6 years, then deleted, because of tax rules.
If we emailed you
If you received an email from us, it's because you previously asked about a mortgage or home insurance and agreed to hear about related home services. We use only your email address and name for this. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and if you use it we won't email you again.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or ask us to restrict its use. Email support@mycerts.co and we'll respond within one month. If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
